First I want to say a very heartfelt thank you to our armed forces and veterans. Thank you for making sure I have the freedom to write what I want, to follow my passion.
Second, I know I am late, but Happy Birthday to the Marines.
Third, I thought this was a perfect day for another chapter of Tired Wings are Falling. I mean we have two WWII soldiers in the story. It fits?
Fourth, I am hoping this will be something enjoyable to do after the week we Americans have had. So many people are freaking out, but I wish to inform those that don’t know…
The President of the United States of America is not the end all of our Government. May I remind you:
Our federal government has three parts. They are the Executive, (President and about 5,000,000 workers) Legislative (Senate and House of Representatives) and Judicial (Supreme Court and lower Courts).
The President of the United States administers the Executive Branch of our government. He enforces the laws that the Legislative Branch (Congress) makes. The President is elected by United States citizens, 18 years of age and older, who vote in the presidential elections in their states. These votes are tallied by states and form the Electoral College system. States have the number of electoral votes which equal the number of senators and representatives they have. It is possible to have the most popular votes throughout the nation and NOT win the electoral vote of the Electoral College.
The Legislative part of our government is called Congress. Congress makes our laws. Congress is divided into 2 parts. One part is called the Senate. There are 100 Senators–2 from each of our states. Another part is called the House of Representatives. Representatives meet together to discuss ideas and decide if these ideas (bills) should become laws. There are 435 Representatives. The number of representatives each state gets is determined by its population. Some states have just 2 representatives. Others have as many as 40. Both senators and representatives are elected by the eligible voters in their states.
The Judicial part of our federal government includes the Supreme Court and 9 Justices. They are special judges who interpret laws according to the Constitution. These justices only hear cases that pertain to issues related to the Constitution. They are the highest court in our country. The federal judicial system also has lower courts located in each state to hear cases involving federal issues.
All three parts of our federal government have their main headquarters in the city of Washington D.C.

I hope this waylays some fears I am seeing and hearing from others. For Americans, we are taught this in our Government classes, and for those that are young enough, we had Schoolhouse Rock:
It is for a kid, but still, it works. (The Bill one was the one that stuck in my mind the most, but the fact that I remembered they had one for this from over 30 years ago is kinda amazing to me!)
So calm down. Stop attacking people on social media and in person. There are checks and balances to our system, and they do work. Mostly.
I don’t want a debate, I won’t answer anyone who starts an argument over this. I am just sending this out there to reassure people, that our President is NOT our King or any ruler like one. He is one man versus the other 2 branches. He can veto, but even the Supreme Court can overrule him.
Now I hope I calmed someone down, and if not, go read this chapter. I am trying to get where I can write again, its been kinda hard with my wifi adapter going out on my constantly, as well as my computer sometimes thinking I have 2 harddrives.

The search engine works awesomely, and I have used it a few times to get recipes that I have added. I am also be getting some more family recipes soon from my family, my grandmother would like them to be added so that anyone can come in and use them.

My dear I am afraid you are woefully naive. There will be NO checks and balances for the next four years for Republicans will control all three branches of government once Trump becomes President.
And once they appoint another ConservaFascist to the Supreme Court the final nail in the coffin will be driven home.
Republicans stated quite openly after Obama was elected that their one goal would be to oppose ANYTHING he tried to do. The obstructionism in Washington lies at the feet of Republicans alone, yet they lie through their Fox News and other biased surrogates that Democrats are to blame.
The Republican head of the FBI deliberately interfered in the election and probably violated the Hatch Act in doing so. A Republican appointed by Obama in a genuine attempt at bi-partisanship, something Democrats have always been willing to do and Republicans have always used and abused to their own benefit at the expense of the country.
Republicans have refused to give Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland a hearing, claiming that the American people should decide. The American people did so both in 2008 and 2012 however Republicans continued to disrespect the will of the people.
Republicans have stated quite openly that they would continue to prevent a Supreme Court appointment by Hillary Clinton until they were able to regain power and load the Court with conservative justices who would assist them in undoing the progress on marriage equality, abortion rights and environmental and financial protections.
Republicans intend to overturn the Affordable Care Act and Odin knows what they will do to Medicare and Medicaid. And Democrats no longer have the numbers in the House and Senate to stop them.
Trump will be a puppet of Pence and the other right wing racists and homophobes who, if they get their way, will do all they can to turn the United States into a Christofascist dictatorship where women will go back to dying from back alley abortions, gays will have to go back into the closet and immigrants will be denied entry to the country and black Americans will continue to live every day in fear of the police.
This is the America that those who voted for Trump have inflicted on the rest of America and the world. Democrats will do what little they can to oppose it and will be left to clean up the mess as they always have done once the fools realize too late what they have done.
But then I suppose their precious white privilege and hurt feelings were more important than their fellow citizens. America has officially become a laughing stock to the rest of the world.
My parents moved us back to my mother’s country of birth in the UK after Republicans stole the 2000 election and put the future war criminals Bush and Cheney in power.
My parents knew that it was only a matter of time before the Republican warmongers would start a war for profit and they feared for the lives of my brothers as potential cannon fodder for the Republican war machine while privileged Republican brats spent their time getting drunk at frat parties. Jenna and Barbara Bush as cases in point.
It was by far the best decision they ever made and I doubt I will ever bother returning to the US in my lifetime.
America had a real chance to continue the move to a progressive and inclusive future but instead too many willfully ignorant fools chose to believe the lies of a fraud and con artist and his fascist cronies and I truly fear for those who will suffer the consequences.
Good luck America. You are going to need it but I am afraid it is already far too late.
